Doing breathing exercises together with the calm bottle can help children to consciously focus their attention and it is a great technique to stimulate their attention span. It is a tool to use when children are nervous or when they feel angry or sad, supporting them in managing their emotions.

You can explain to the children that when we have a lot of thoughts or are angry or sad we cannot think clearly and the mind is like the water in the bottle when we shake it. But when we take a long, deep breath, looking at the glitter inside the bottle, we can think more clearly and regulate our emotions, as happens with water, which becomes clear again when the glitter goes down to the bottom of the bottle.

I used the calm bottle excersices in the yoga program for children in my doctoral thesis. The students liked it very much and were happy to participate in the construction of the exercise. We did these exercises before meditation to help the children focus on the present moment and stimulate their attention span.

Care tips: to clean, wipe the outside of the bottle with a damp cloth. We recommend not leaving them in direct sunlight or immersing them in water for prolonged periods of time.
